Default Spruced up GHE

I just received my GHE back from Brian Dudley and I am super pleased with what he did. The barrels had some pitting, the checkering was worn and the Silvers pad was smooshed and rock hard. He did a remarkable job on the barrels, recut the checkering and cleaned/refreshened the finish to where it does'nt look totally redone and still retains most of the patina in the wood. Truly a craftsman. One question I have is a stamping on the barrel flats (right) of a P.S. I'm sure it's been discussed but I never noticed it till now. Any ideas?

Daryl,

Here is a photo I have of the barrel flats, but I cannot really make out too well from it what the marks are you mention on the left barrel flat.

DUH! Thanks Brian but I'm assuming it stands for Parker Steel.

"PS" in a circle on a G grade barrel flat would signify "Parker Special", the type of steel used in these guns. Can we see more pictures? If you had a PH or PHE steel barrel gun with "Parker Steel" barrels, it would have barrel flat marking of "P" in a circle.

The "Steel" in any of the barrel steel designations is a given - that's why we see only T in a circle for Titanic Steel and an A in a circle for Acme Steel - V is in a circle for Vulcan Steel and as Bill stated, P in a circle for Parker Steel and PS in a circle for Parker Special Steel. The S for Steel is always 'silent'.

Thanks guys. I'll try to get outside tomorrow and take a clear pic. but this is a very large P.S. without a circle. Bill, I also have a VERY late PHE20 and I'll also check it.

Right Daryl - for some reason PB dropped the circle on the late guns.... may have been a Remington thing... what is the date of manufacture?
