Actually - you do not need a PayPal account to renew on line. You can renew securely, and "on-line" using the PayPal link - which accepts both credit cards and e-checks (An Electronic Check, drawn from your checking account, which is similar to a "paper check", just without the paper) - without requiring a "PayPal" account.
