I ordered some of those for my recently deceased friend . I think he liked them well enough .

I've been loading the AA16 or knockoff version for about 25 years . I also use some of the Remington SP-16 but just for buckshot loads .

The reason some shells load better than others is that you may be loading six segment shells with eight segment crimpers. No big deal, but it may be the reason.

I have never seen an 800 PW in 16 gauge, but I have heard they exist. Could it have been a single stage PW 375? The problems with the crimp could be the difference in number of segments also. I have two different crimp starters for my PW 375 and keep my shells segregated so they are used in the proper crimp starters.

I used a PW 375 for the 16 and 10 3 1/2 back 25 years ago . At first i used the Winchester old Upland and Expert shells and they did well enough on the PW 375 .

And when I started again loading for the 16 about 3 years ago I was having my best luck with the Federal purple shells in my old friends PW 800 . Now I seem to be having decent luck with all three shells in this MEC !
