Grouse opened up here Aug 10 but I generally don't hunt them before Sept 1; just seems too early and they're still too dumb. We kicked some up along a river last weekend and they just flew up into small trees like spruce grouse and sat there looking down at the dog and us. It's snowing in Barrow, there's frost warnings around Fairbanks today and tire chains were recommended for a pass on a road north of town two days ago. Summer is closing down fast. It's 41 deg here right now....

Richard,
When it hits 41 degrees here we consider Summer long gone!

By then Interrior Alaska is well into the grips of winter as their daylight grows dimmer and dimmer.

Makes me shudder and shiver just to think about it. *teeth chattering*

Default PGCA Tent

18 Days and counting!!!! I saw Rick Hemmingway yesterday and he told me he was going to provide PGCA with our own tent, just like last year. I believe last year we had six tables, two for PGCA and the rest for members. If you want a table please let me know-first come.... There is no charge for a table as Rick is providing it free, The same for Friday evenings "Parker Celebration"
food, drink , music, free. The event opens for shooting noon on Thursday.
It has cooled down a bit here-mid 80's so if no storm this year it will be fantastic.

David

C O B-we will miss you!

It's nice to be missed. Maybe some day but not if it interfers with the opener of Grouse season which is Sept 15. It will be warm and the cover thick to be sure but it is the opener and it comes only once a year

Rich, The Suponski boys and I drove two solid days to get there last year, only to beat it back to CT on Saturday, to beat the hurricane. I will agree, Backwoods is a first class course and we had a great time shooting, and socializing at the PGCA Annual Meeting/Dinner. It was kind of novel seeing my daughter doing the weather from the beach in Myrtle Beach.

Hope you all can stay longer this time. Hope we don't have any hurricanes to spoil the fun

Mills, I wish we were heading down this year. The Vintagers and PGCA Annual Meeting is 2 weeks after the Southern, and only an hour and a half from me. If there are any folk up this way heading down, I haven't heard such as yet.
