Bob, once you post some high resolution pictures you will get several learned opinions as to how to proceed based on the condition of the gun, but first things first, no valuable advice can be given without first knowing what the gun's issues might be - and pictures will fill in the blanks.

If the lady is as particular as you say, and wants the gun to made as close to "brand new" as is humanly possible, then, Doug Turnbull of Bloomfield, New York is the man to do the restore Grandpa's Parker ... The lady should also be aware that no matter who does the work, total restorations don't come cheap ... Turnbull is the cream of the crop, and he's listed in the "links" section of this website.
