I'm confused too. An SP-16 wad? shotcup? what? in a a 10ga hull? Really? An SP-16 is a shotcup; no confusion there; just sounds very odd. I guess you really are being clear if it really is and SP-16 and not a 16 ga wad of some sort in an SP-10 shotcup; we're just hesitant to believe it, I guess. If there is a pressure reduction using that combination vs using and SP-10, the reason is blowby in my book. What else could it be? Isn't there some other way to accomplish the same thing without wasting powder? Please clarify.

I also plan on using this load for non-tox using Niceshot with a reduced payload of either 1 1/4 or 1 3/8 oz

Thanks for sharing this information with us Mark, with your permission I will add it to the Comprehensive Short Ten reloading spreadsheet I created and post the update on the reloading forum on the PGCA site.

Thanks, that looks like a great load. I'll try it in my fluid steel 10.
On the other hand I have a lot of Circle Fly fiber wads I was going to load BP with in Federal cases for a couple of #6 frames. Since that idea I got a 100 full length brass shells I load Bp in using 11 ga. wads.
what to do with all the 12 ga wads? Any load recommendations using something like Unique or Red Dot that produces reasonable pressures (even though #6 frame Damascus barrels look like they can take a lot of pressure).

If those are 10ga brass hulls, you're going to want to use 9ga wads for a proper fit and seal.

They are 10 ga brass and I use 9 ga CircleFly wads. No crimp at the end. I use duco cement to secure the overshot wad.
