Yup, real hunting stories from the past are what makes our history real.

Sporting tales debuted with the Nov/Dec 2000 issue. It was intended to be published bimonthly, with six issues per year. The focus was to be on good stories and on original artwork rather than photography (not that photography can't be artwork!). Joel Marvin is listed as founder/publisher/editor. Here is the premier issue; you'll probably recognize Bob White's work on the cover...
![]() A total of15 issues were published; here is the last issue, Mar/April 2003. By then the format (size) had changed (slightly larger) and while Joel is still listed as founder/publisher, Karl F. Roenigk is listed as editor... ![]() And, if I may, here is the July/August 2000 issue which contains my story "Kindred Spirits", illustrated by some fine artwork by Rod Crossman. Print #1 of a limited edition of "Spirit of Autumn" that is featured with the story stands on my mantle... ![]() ![]() It was a real shame when Sporting Tales ceased publication; a beautiful idea with a lot of support but not, apparenlty, quite enough.

Zowie! Ebay will be busy with anyone who will sell these back issues. Nothing today, unfortunately.
