have you looked for the ciity directory for that year? Check out the library or ancestory websites. City directories predated phone books and were like yellow pages but often more information.
I took the name a gun was shipped to found the shop, then back tracked through the years and found where that dealer took over a gun makers shop decades before, and tracked him up to where he disappeared and the shop that later sent it for repairs showed up his 1890 ad had a wood cut of a Parker hammerless gun on it. go back to the previous ad and it was a hammer gun. ![]()
