C F Pope Company in Providence RI

I am researching a gun that went through this sporting goods store in 1895.
Does anyone have any information on this store or have guns that went through there?
Thanks

For an Interstate Association shoot to be held in Providence, July of 1899, shells and guns shipped to C.F. Pope will be delivered to the shooting grounds. Sporting Life, Volume 33, #15, page 24. That's all I have found.

have you looked for the ciity directory for that year? Check out the library or ancestory websites. City directories predated phone books and were like yellow pages but often more information.

I took the name a gun was shipped to found the shop, then back tracked through the years and found where that dealer took over a gun makers shop decades before, and tracked him up to where he disappeared and the shop that later sent it for repairs showed up

his 1890 ad had a wood cut of a Parker hammerless gun on it. go back to the previous ad and it was a hammer gun.
