Never let an FFL open your package unless you are present. Only about one out of twenty FFLs know how to assemble or disassemble a Parker or a Model 21 much less a Winchester pump gun without putting a gouge in the metal.

I would think that nearly any ffl is going to open a package the day it comes in so that they can book the gun in promptly, the day it is received as they are supposed to do by law. This means getting the serial number off the gun and getting the copy of paperwork that would be in the box.
