I have an unaltered 1940 LC Smith 16ga FWT field model.

The "weep hole" is in front of the Forearm Lug. Assuming that is what this hole is anyway.... I really had not heard that term before, so maybe that's not it...

The term “weep hole” has been around since gunmakers started drilling them.

I sent a set of beautiful yet worn and grungy 4-iron Damescus Parker barrels out to be refinished and they came back nicely done but with a plugged weep hole... that wasn’t there before I sent them. They had never been refinished before. Guy swore he didn’t do it....
