Federal Gold Medal Paper?

I try to always have a flat of them around for when I need the good smell. Killed a Pheasant with one out of the right barrel of my old 1914-vintage A-Grade Fox on 8 November 2010. I have a handful off old Federal paper 16-gauges, but didn't use any today when I was out with a 16-gauge. Bruce is right about cost. The invoice in my currant flat is $108 plus Washington State sales tax!!

I didn't think the price was all that bad.
I just sent for 10 boxes for $76.99 + $11.00 shipping.

So what's the deal with the different smell?
Is it the paper shell or a different type of powder
used in these shells.
