Federal Gold Medal Paper?
Just ordered a case of these, anyone else use these?
What do you think of them? Federal Gold Medal Target - Paper, 12 Ga. 2¾" T118-7 12ga. 2 3/4" 7.5 1 1/8oz. 1200 FPS |
Have several cases of them. Great shells, great smell. They will stand 5 or 6 reloads, watch for pinholes at the top of the brass base. I have an old Double Automatic and some will hang up in that. Costly.

Many millions have been fired on the trap fields, a classic. :)

I try to always have a flat of them around for when I need the good smell. Killed a Pheasant with one out of the right barrel of my old 1914-vintage A-Grade Fox on 8 November 2010. I have a handful off old Federal paper 16-gauges, but didn't use any today when I was out with a 16-gauge. Bruce is right about cost. The invoice in my currant flat is $108 plus Washington State sales tax!!

Hummm! :)
I didn't think the price was all that bad. I just sent for 10 boxes for $76.99 + $11.00 shipping. |
So what's the deal with the different smell?
Is it the paper shell or a different type of powder used in these shells. |
The paper.....

Does anyone know how much pressure these generate?

I did work up a 6500 psi 1oz @ 1150 fps load in those hulls and have killed a few wild roosters with it as well as quail with my damascus guns, by loading them with either 7 1/2 or 5 shot. |
If you're willing to send a handful to Ambrust for testing, them T175 with 1oz @1180 fps sounds promising to have low pressures.
