No kidding. Of all the gauges and bores reloading the .410 can save you the most. I have a "boutique" load I developed for my 3" chambered .410s that carries .73 oz. of true nickel plated shot and delivers it at about 1150 fps. It patterns beautifully and hits doves like the hammer of Thor. What a box of those would cost, if someone could be coaxed into loading and selling them, is only to be imagined.

Cheap 2 1/2" .410 loads are loaded with soft shot, almost always, and the resulting patterns show it. Many people who use these cheapest loads badmouth a .410's performance. Often it is not the bore, but the load, that is responsible for the poor performance. JMO,YMMV
