410
Trying to locate some 410 target loads 2-1/2”
Any suggestions would be appreciated In mass, maine or NH |
.410 has been the hardest to find, I’ve had luck with Cabelas, and Academy Sports regularly get some in but it sells fast so you have to check daily. Currently RST has 2-1/2 inch 410 right now for $200 a case. Good luck

RST had some available the last time a looked. Which was over a week ago.

Thanks what seems to be the going price for say AA’s ?

Strangely enough I saw a few boxes a Wallmart a few weeks ago and grabbed them. As I recall they were less than $15/box.

Or load them for 97 cents. Just joking, it's $2.45 a box.

Cheap 2 1/2" .410 loads are loaded with soft shot, almost always, and the resulting patterns show it. Many people who use these cheapest loads badmouth a .410's performance. Often it is not the bore, but the load, that is responsible for the poor performance. JMO,YMMV |
I saw Mr Baker at the N S/S yesterday. He has 410s.

Thanks for the info
I planning to take my model 42 out tomorrow but only have some 3” game loads. Only shot it once before using my only box of 2-1/2” and it was fun to shoot. What do most of you use 3” or the 2-1/2” . Seems most of the skeet shooters use the 2-1/2”. Seems like a no brainer to do some reloading. |
The 2 1/2", 1/2 ounce, loads are mandated for registered targets in skeet and sporting clays. I have killed many doves with them also, but prefer 3" loads for game birds. The old WW 3/4 ounce load is a super good patterning, and killing, load for me. I have some .410 doubles that are not regulated with any lighter load than this.
Having done a lot of shotgun patterning in my life with doubleguns I have found that the lighter the gun the more critical it is that the shooter find the load it likes the best, and that will shoot both barrels to point of aim. .410s can be very finicky because of their, usually, very light weight. |
