I saw that too, and of course old Researcher saved pictures!! It appears to me that the 079 is stamped over 257.
242257 was sold new by Abercrombie & Fitch. If this gun is 242257 everywhere except the barrels/forend and you want to know what it was originally then I would contact G&H and get a letter.
