My back action is chambered this way. I've seen examples in early stock books where they have gauge recorded as 12b/14.

The only E. Remington & Sons catalog I have is the reprint of the 1878 and the ammunition section only lists 10- and 12-gauge paper shells, but they list 10- and 12-gauge shot concentrators, each gauge for either paper or brass shells.
UPDATE -- I found an 1877 E. Remington & Sons catalog on line and it lists brass shells in 10- & 12-gauge in both A & B and 16B. |
