did you know

that 14 ga brass shells in a size were the same as 12 b brass shells....I did not know this till I seen a box of Remington brass shells stating this on the box...unfortunally the box is empty...a 12 b shell is very hard yo come by in the collecting world...only one I ever seen for sale they wanted 300 dollars for it....this box is on wards auctions if any body wants to see this statement...charlie

I saw that box too. Part of the growing pains of early day breech loaders.

My back action is chambered this way. I've seen examples in early stock books where they have gauge recorded as 12b/14.

The only E. Remington & Sons catalog I have is the reprint of the 1878 and the ammunition section only lists 10- and 12-gauge paper shells, but they list 10- and 12-gauge shot concentrators, each gauge for either paper or brass shells.

UPDATE -- I found an 1877 E. Remington & Sons catalog on line and it lists brass shells in 10- & 12-gauge in both A & B and 16B.

I have several 8 ga shells that have a on them these are brass shells...also have 10 ga brass parker brothers shells that have the a on them but no b shells do I have....I also seen some Remington single barrel guns that said they would shoot the 16 ga brass shell and a 20 ga paper shell..i may have this back wards....charlie
