Default Chantilly, VA Show April 19-21, 2013

Has anyone anything to report from the Chantilly, Virginia Show? Kevin McCormack and I were at our normal location and had a great time, looked at a bunch of Parkers and other double guns. Tell us your experiences.

I was at a Denver show this morning. Small. Lots of black guns and such but included one stunning 12ga Trojan with more CC than I would think a brand new one would have. Not redone either. Mint original bbl finish. Very clean example. Never seen a cleaner one. Not a mark on the stock or bbls. $2195 I think it was. Colors were amazing. Amazingly we made it out the door without spending a single penny, which wasn't difficult considering that a box of 525 .22LR was $100. Magpul 30rd AR15 mags were back down to $22 though. Only other gun I liked was an unfired pre-series 70 Colt 1911 A1 that was absolutely gorgeous.... $2500.... I passed.

I wish we had seen that Trojan. I heard about a high condition Trojan at our show, but never got to look. We had an interesting conversation about Ed Muderlak's Trojan, but I forgot about the Trojan at the show after talking about Ed's gun.

Is it just my impression or are Trojans moving upward more rapidly than higher grades? I will freely admit, I've paid more attention to them recently. All I seee in shops are well worn examples, rarely smaller than 12s.

Trojans are rapidly joining the ranks of 28's and .410's. The two older guys carting the Trojan around were sent to the show by a friend who owned the gun to sell it for him. One guy was obsessed with the fact that the gun was made in 1927(?); the other had absolutely no idea what he was carrying around except that it was a "Parker Brothers from Meridian (sic) CT.' Yes it did have a lot of color and yes it did have sound wood, but when I asked them the price and they told me the guy at home wanted $3700 for it, I got out of there fast. The two guys carrying the gun around kept looking at one another as if they knew that the gun was priced about 3 times what it should have been.

Antics like this are prime examples of the insane mania fueling the outrageous prices lately for Parker Guns. I hope we don't see anything like it at Sanford later this week!

I will bring a Trojan to Sanford that is overpriced at $450, but may make a project for an ambitious buyer.

Do you know if he sold the Trojan. Do you have his name or know a way to get in touch with him?
Thanks
Gerald
