Calvin: Can't help on the slot size. If you are making one I personally would make it the same size as the floorplate if for no other reason than to make it easy to use the same size screwdriver bit. Somehow I doubt if even the most "persnickity" of us Parker boys would consider the gun junk if the slot was off by a few thousands. BTW, I hope to have the rest of the 16 gage by the end of July. I'm told the frame and locks have finish as nice as the outside of the barrels. Wish the bores were that good. Lee.

John: I think I need a hammer screw for the top lever hammergun I am getting. I'm told one was missing and replaced with hardware store stuff. Shoot me a PM with contact info if you have or are duplicating the originals so I know what I am dealing with when I have the gun in hand. Lee.

I think that there is usually a bit of variation in screw widths from gun to gun.
I have a lifter here that is close to your vintage (S/N 18XXX). For the top tang screw, the Brownells 300-2 bit is the best fit out of the thin set, but that is a hear loose. I find that the 293-231 in my wheeler set is a better fit. It is a bit fatter. It is hard to tell the lower tang screw on this gun since the slot is a bit opened up on the ends. But the slot was wider than any of the thin bits to start with. I have found that my large wheeler set and the Brownells thin bit set gives me nearly all the bits that I might need.
