Nice D3 (3 Iron) probably from a G (Dam2). See Frank's thread below and https://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dfg2hmx7_268gzhjpd4d
Hammerless Ds had mostly 4 Iron, Cs mostly Bernard (sourced from Belgium) and 4 Iron. 3 Iron = 2 full scrolls between 2 1/2 scrolls within the ribband weld lines https://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dfg2hmx7_0dgmfqfgm

Dang it - I'm wrong again
Drew, It looks to me like every line is a weld line... how do you see it differently? |

This is an Oxford or Hufnagel variant called Ferlacher Rosen
It's almost impossible to 'read' the ribbands as a weld line is down the middle of each scroll (each scroll being two halves of adjacent rods.) BUT as you can see on Jeff's barrels, the scroll where the edge of the ribband is 'jumped' (overlapped) and hammer welded is 1/2 the size of the full scrolls - so you look for two full scrolls in between two 1/2 scrolls = 3 iron AND the size of the scrolls (depending on the pattern) helps i.e. 4 Iron scrolls are smaller than 2 Iron scrolls, but Turkish scrolls are smaller than Oxford scrolls, unless it's Super-Oxford

I'm glad you are out there Drew. I can read your words but I think I need to take a course to understand them. No matter what, they are beautiful barrels that we can appreciate. I know I would appreciate driving the current world's fastest production car, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, without fully understanding its mill (I think it is DamFast2) Not TurkishCrawl
Cheers, Jack
