Re: the hickory reinforcing rod - Not questioning your expertise, just curious - how do you determine a reinforcing rod on such a gun? I know holes were drilled in the butt to add lead or remove wood and then plugged in order to balance the gun but my question echos yours... was Remington still using the reinforcing rod?
