Wild Goose Chase

This afternoon a friend came into work just before I was leaving and said he had been in a little " Mom and Pop " gun shop the evening before and the fella had an old Hammer Parker Gun hanging from the ceiling of the shop, my friend ask if it was for sale and the guy took it down and said ,that old gun has been hanging here so long if you give me what I got in it ,its yours !My friend explained he had a friend that has a very bad case of " Parkeritis " and ask what he would take for the gun he said send your friend up with a hundred bucks and its his !I made the sixty mile round trip as fast as I could get there only to find another " T. Parker " shotgun in miserable condition. Well as they say Good Hunting ! :crying:

Well now we know why it's been hanging from the ceiling all this time. Great story Russ.

Mike; You're right ,I didn't need to rush !!

Russ: Perhaps one day they will prove that "T" was the illegitamate son of Charles.

I can relate to your story Russ. Two weeks ago, the day before I was leaving on vacation, got a call from a local gun shop. "There is an old guy here with a very nice Parker, you better come see it quick. Not sure of the grade but it looks like new condition". Two minutes later I'm in the truck heading east about 30 miles. A V that has been polished like the bumper on a 59 Buick. Home made forend, hot blued barrels with loose rib showing at the muzzle. And etc. etc. etc. Would take a grand for a quick sale. You never know so you got to go look. Jack

Not too long ago, I was told about a couple of ground up Foxes in a friend's gun store in New Castle, Delaware. At the time I was driving a 454 Suburban that burned a lot of gas, so I talked Don Kaas into running over there to look at them. It's probably the first time in recorded history that one man bought two Becker Foxes in one day from a retail store. One had some Nash Buckingham provenance. Now I go to look at all of them.

Thats just the way it is, some folks have no idea what they are looking at and also have absolutely no interest, but when some one passes along info. ,you just have to go look !! Congratulations on your great find Bill, you are proof, sometimes it just works out !

Hey Bill I think I read you post wright Don K. picked up two Becker Foxes at one store? Please tell us the rest of the story on the guns or maybe Mr. Don can.

George Lander 09-11-2009 04:50 PM

Hey, you just never know what you're going to find. That's why you have to go look at all of them!

Just My Humble Opinion......George
