Seeking information on 1908 SxS

Long story as short as possible...

I'm no collector, avid hunter, not a collector. A friend has inherited a 1908 Parker SxS and asked me to help her understand value. I know these are collector items, but no real idea how valuable. In my short research, I have yet to find one similar.

Specs:
  • S/N 149xxx (manufactured in 1908)
  • DHE grade
  • 28ga
  • 23 7/8" Titanic Steel Barrels
  • Beavertail forearm
  • Never fired

She has a 2017 evaluation from Blue Book of Gun Values at $77,700 but I cannot find anything close to this value.

Any and all help is appreciated.

If those details are correct, that is one dandy Parker. Good resolution pics and a full serial number will be necessary to verify authenticity. You are unlikely to find an appraisal here but if you are willing to give a general location someone can probably point you in the direction of a qualified appraiser.

Thanks! I've asked for some pictures, and will post when available. Were in Charlotte, NC. Hyatt Guns is here and they are usually pretty good, but I've never taken any antique guns there. If anyone knows of a Parker enthusiast locally, we'd really appreciate the introduction. Full serial number is 149193.
Thanks again!

I would take the time to bring it here April 25th. Lots of people there can give you good info.

According to the serialization book it should be a 28 ga. hammerless grade 3 gun with ejectors (DHE) 24” Titanic steel barrels and a capped pistol grip stock. Sounds like it matches those specs. I would reach out to John Allen or Josh Loewensteiner on this forum for assistance with appraisal.

The option code 2, in the serialization book does not confirm the originality of the BTFE, should be 10, but, the book isn't always correct. A PGCA research letter will very possibly provide additional information, such as possible returns to the factory for changes, etc.
Regardless, it is a valuable gun, and I'd caution you to get as much information as possible.
Detailed photos of the barrel flats may show even more exciting details.
I've had several 24" guns, including a 28ga., and they are magical in the woods.

Josh Loewensteiner lives in Charlotte area as well.

If he has the gun in hand, get insurance. I use Eastern Insurance. 800 545-9326. There are others. If one had a car this valuable, one would not let it be uninsured. They will insure it for whatever one asks.
