Scam alert

Not sure if this is the correct spot for this alert, but since I got scammed trying to buy some 700X powder. Here goes:
Found https://sportsmansgunshop.com advertising powder at a reasonable price. Professional looking website, but the ordering process was awkward.
Ordered 4#, and sent $123.99 via Paypal. That's the last I've heard from them. Won't answer the phone or email. Started searching for scam alerts, and sure enough, they're a scam. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

There has been a lot of discussion of this on the Shotgun World reloading forum. General opinion is that if they do not take credit cards it is a scam. Some show every powder in stock at very reasonable prices which is another tip off. Stick with the big, old suppliers that have been around a few decades.

I really hate seeing good people get scammed.

If you take a look at their reviews section, they have stock images of people found on other sites. Also, their physical address could not be found on an internet search.

These scammers can be very convincing. But, if your local gun shop doesn't have it, and the big box vendors don't have it, it is highly doubtful and suspect that vendors such as these seem to have everything in stock. Finally, due to their openly anti-firearm policies, most if not all outdoors dealers such as Midway USA will not use PayPal.

Sorry to hear that, John. You had discussed your misgivings with the process when we las talked about it. Unfortunately, your fears proved true.

See you soon.

I had the same thing happen when I tried to order a eight pounder of Alliant Extra-lite. It just didn't feel right. None of the big out suppliers had it and they had it cheep. I got off line and they texed me and wanted payment through Pay-Pal. So many that don't want to work for a living. The lack of integrity in this society is unbelievable.

Contact PayPal and see if they will reverse the transaction.

Tried. Because the deal was already posted on FB, they couldn't do anything. Am working with my bank which has my Paypal account, but I'm afraid the chances are slim and none, and slim is out of town

Paypal will allow disputes within 120 days.

I have come across a BUNCH of scam sites looking for supplies. If they only use Venmo, Paypal, or any of the cash transfer methods AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Any legit business on-line will accept the usual major credit cards where you have recourse over a deal with issues.
