Parker with loose action

I had a chance to handle a late Remington Parker this week. The action was tight if the action was closed, even with the forend off. When the action is opened normally there seemed to be a little play (wiggle) between the action and the barrels. Is this normal wear that can be repaired or is it just sloppy fitting from the beginning .
Thanks, Dave

That is not uncommon. There is little engagement between the barrel lug and the water table well when open.
The gun is not fired open, so all that matters is what it's like when closed.

The wiggle between the barrel lug and the space in the frame you describe is not considered to be wear.
