What's it Worth? (photos included)
Parker Trojan - 16 gauge - 28" barrels.
This was my Papaw's gun. My Dad gave it to me after he died in '86. He bought it new as a boy. I believe after checking the serial # on this great site it was made in 1924 and he bought it that year or in '25. He used it for quail and rabbit hunting and everything works on it and it is still very tight and shoots very well. To my knowledge it has never been worked on. Here are a few photos of it. I would like to know its value. 16 gauge - 28" barrels - Serial # 209770 http://i47.tinypic.com/2eam25f.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/rjr1ua.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/2uyppag.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/o89nys.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/2yz0kyf.jpg Thank you in advance for your time and knowledge. As it is your fathers gun that he bought as a boy and hunted with it his whole life I would say it is priceless. As for monetary value I am sure some one with more knowledge than me will give you a good estimate.

Eldon, it was my grandfathers gun and it is priceless to me. I am just wondering.
|
as you said priceless to you bewing a family gun..in the worlds eyes about 1000 to 1200... keep that old gun clean and take it hunting... charlie

Tom: If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't sell it for a million dollars...
|
Oh it's not for sale!
|
Definitely priceless

Okay, now that we've established that a family heirloom is priceless let's help this person with a market value. He is probably just curious.
How much is a fair to good condition Trojan 16 gauge worth? |
Nothing wrong with Charlie's estimate. Very nice Trojan.
|
Nice honest gun, Tom. I'd rather a closet full of guns like that than 1 Turnbull restored gun.
|
I agree with everybody else that has replied on this thread, I would be willing to give $1500.00 for it. I understand and appreciate your value of priceless and fully agree. Please take Charlie's advice and keep it clean and hunt with it. Pass it down to your kids and keep the heritage alive. If you don't have kids, can I call you Dad?

I sold one a couple of years back a 16 Ga. also almost identical condition but mine was earlier with the Rib Extension , I was asking $1000.00 ,and got an Offer of 900.00 and took it ,I would say the buyer did Good !:)

Market value is all based on condition. I would put the condition of your Trojan at "fair". It is a gun that looks to be 100% operational, but lacks much original finish. The 16g would carry a premium over 12g. So about $1,000 or so is accurate. If it were a 12g gun, it would be much less. I have seen 12g guns in similar condition all as low as $400.
