Serial help also
98974,I'll be sending for a letter.
|
What's your question?
|
98974 is not in the serialization book.
But there are surviving factory records upon which to base a PGCA Research Letter. . |
Not listed in the Serialization Book
|
Serial # indicates 1900 build but has serial numbered barrel's with the 1910 wear plate.Curious what it left with in year 1900.
|
Probably returned to the factory to have the wear plate added.
|
Thanks

When a pre-1910 Parker hammerless gun was returned to the factory for ANY service or repair, the bolt and wear plate were upgraded with the 1910 design as a matter of policy.
. |
So if it went back for service and the bolt and plate were added... is that where the "2" stamped on the forarm lug came from? Or if in 1900 it was ordered as a 2 bbl set would a letter state that?
|
We need see pictures -- barrel flats, rib legend, overall. Those would give us info to answer questions.

To answer your question, the second barrel set information could either be in the original letter, in a later "repair" letter, or in neither of these.

To answer your question, the second barrel set information could either be in the original letter, in a later "repair" letter, or in neither of these. Repairs are generally in a separate order book, not included in the regular gun order book. It could be among the missing books.
