Serial #133359 help please

James L. Martin 06-18-2017 03:31 PM

Not in book

What do you look for to tell whether or not its been cut. Some are pretty obvious.

Bill Murphy 06-18-2017 03:58 PM

#1, a PGCA letter. #2, examine the blank space in the rib matting at the muzzle.

#3 Look for evidence of steel keels beneath the top and bottom ribs.

Thanks.

Could you guys post some pics of cut vs not? So this rookie knows what he's looking at. I think they're cut but still full anf full. But i don't know

Search the forum on the topic, you will find a lot of results.

What is the grade? Anything above a trojan will have the matting terminate before the end of the rib.

its a dh

The PGCA letter is almost a sure thing. Someone will post a picture of the barrel keels and blank space at the end of the rib.

Check out the FAQ web page, you may find something of interest there. This one in particular... http://parkerguns.org/pages/faq/CutBarrels.htm

Read the FAQ. It didn't have the flat spot at the end of the rib and that's why I questioned it. It has the keel and the barrels touch.

The flat spot is normal but not found 100% of the time. When its missing it can cause one to look closer just as you have but it is not the end all indicator of cut barrels.

The keels that are placed between the barrels are not all that long, so if they are there that would be a very good sign that they are not cut. I believe the keels dimension is documented in one of the FAQ's; so you can see by their size how they would be lost when cut, unless the cut is very very small.
