Parker Slam

3 Attachment(s)
Well, after completing my 16 slam, I realized I had used all my Parkers this season except for my little VH 20 w/ 26" cyl/mod barrels. I bought this gun around 1990 and it had been reblued, recased, and refinished. I know you guys will think I'm crazy, but I never carry it or the little O frame DHE 16 that I posted on yesterday. I will have to change that situation and take them to the UP next year. They are both perfect little grouse guns.
When I dropped the tailgate Sunday, the beepers were going off before I had the gun out of the case. I thought the dogs were probably on "kennel point", but they already had a cockbird nailed. The little 20 did its job just fine. The second bird did require the second barrel, but that was my fault.
My dogs work very well together, and I really enjoy hunting them together
(father/daughter brace).

Harold I think you need some more guns:rotf:

Harold Lee Pickens 12-05-2013 09:42 AM

I agree Rich!!
I think I will try to use all my Foxes next. I have used 3, but have 2 20 SW's and a neat old SW pin gun--the only 12 ga I shoot.
I have friends up in the Grayling area grouse hunting this week. I wonder what it is like in the UP? Always wanted to try a little winter grouse hunting there.

Harold,
They are beautiful guns and dogs. Congratulations on a fine hunt.

Dennis

My wife just found a 16 gauge Parker that she just has to have. I am broke, but am going to check with Santa

Harold Lee Pickens 12-05-2013 04:03 PM

Mills, you are starting down the slippery sixteen slope!

Mills Morrison 12-05-2013 04:08 PM

I am. I really like my GH 16 I bought this summer and the Sterlingworth 16 I bought this Fall.

charlie cleveland 12-05-2013 07:03 PM

nice looking birds for sure...them little short barrel guns work great for me too..i only get to use them on squirls or crows but they will do the job...great hunt you had...charlie

Just back from the U.P. and the drive home last night was horrible with blowing snow and whiteout conditions.

harold there was no snow in Grayling but Channing has about 8 inches of crusty snow that neither dog nor man walk on am temps were -15 and the high was low single digits. No grouse or deer hunting.

Fred Preston 12-09-2013 05:21 PM

How was the ride over the Bridge?

Wuss

The bridge ride was slow and scary. I hate that bridge in any weather it's always the worst part of the trip for me.

One should never deny a woman a Parker shotgun, no matter the price!

Mills Morrison 12-25-2013 06:09 PM

She got her wish

Daryl Corona 12-26-2013 09:27 AM

Smart man, Mills. Nice pic of her and her 16 on the other thread.

Well I disagree. I had to cancell a hunt at Pine Hill Plantation due to the health concerns of two of our dogs and the wifes inability to deal with them and her work schedule. She's happy me not so much:nono::cuss::cuss::cuss:

Dean Romig 12-26-2013 07:26 PM

Sorry to hear that Rich.

Rich Anderson 12-26-2013 08:37 PM

Yeah me to, the hunt was with Shooting Sportsman and would have been a great time and made for a nice PP artical. Another time hopefully.

Mills Morrison 12-29-2013 01:07 PM

That stinks Rich

Mills Morrison 12-30-2013 08:01 AM

Rich, Try again with Morrison Pines. Tell them you are a Parker fan and they have a guide who is a collector. Griff. We talked Parkers the whole hunt.
