OK.........what do I have
I believe the gun was sent to remington for repairs in July 1941....(OK3) maybe for a New Stock??

any help would be greatly apreciated

Michael,

Looking at the pictures, it would appear that the book has a error for this serial number.

IMO this gun has been re-stocked. The checkering pattern is wrong for a VH, the trigger-guard is the original short tanged one that has been straightened. Straight gripped guns will have a long tang. I suspect that the forearm is a re-do as well.

I don't want to cut into the associations income, but you may want to save the money for the letter. Unfortunately your gun won't match the letter due to the wood work done to it.

As far as value goes. If it is mechanically sound with excellent barrels/bores I'd say somewhere between $1000.00 to $2500.00 depending on the buyer.

Thank You for the info.......are mistakes common in the book? The barrels have excellent blue finish and the bores are clean with no pitting. Would Remington replace the stock and stamp the overload proved on the barrels when it was sent in for repairs?
