When I awoke today I paused to consider all of the possible things I would like to do on this last day of the year. About 30 seconds later I grabbed a Trojan 20ga., a change of clothes and the two "boys". Parker is the ticked 1 year old and Reilly is the 5 year old piebald. Both are obviously impressed by birds and products from Meriden.
Happy New Year Everyone!

A couple of great-looking Brits you have there Fred. I had two Brittanys a long time ago and my favorite, named "Rusty" looked exactly like your guy in the vest. Thanks for the memory.

Great pictures Fred. I had hoped to get the dog out yesterday as well but the 10" of snow we got Saturday changed our plans.

This morning Archie and I got our first two birds for 2013. We went over to the Richland County Fish & Game club a few hours after the morning release as we often do, when the releasers have either gotten their birds or quit hunting, and have all of the near 500 acres to look for what might be left. We average a bird per hunt; sometimes two, sometimes none. Today Archie found two for us (the limit). We usually find them in the woods, swamps or brush, though he has found a few in the fields that the other dogs/hunters overlooked. We have had a fair amount of snow in the past week so the conditions were different from most of the season; but, a pleasant start for 2013.

You wouldn't envy us if your on the business end of a shovel. Fred you have much more of the white stuff than we do.

Fred;
Archie is looking good. He's really filled out since I last saw him in June. I just love his solid color.

Yes Rich, we've accumulated about 8 or 10 inches in the past week or so. Daryl, he's 60 pounds or so now. The snow seems to really turn him on; he'll throw a rooster tail of snow patterning a field. I don't see how he can pick up a scent travelling like that, but he does. He struck that find about 125 yards from me and I wouldn't have know of it without the GPS collar.

Thanks for the end of the season post. I'm sliding into my New Year depressed state thinking it is ten months now to Opening Day. :(
