took my new to me 28 in, VHE, str, grip 20 ga. ,choked .025 in both barrels, out for a waterfowel hunt in my sneakbox. There were lots of duck and geese moving at 1st light, about 6 geese took off around a 100 yds down from me but came wright at me at about 35 yds, 1st shot with 7/8ths oz bismuth 6's stalled him but 2 nd shot droped him. at the shot about 80 ducks got up and they too came at me, another shot and 1 blackduck. a few more blacks decoyed but you can only shoot 1 a day. than a female hoody set in close and i hit her on the 2nd shot. this was a nice test for my new gun. scott

Good work on the birds with the twenty. Post some pics of your sneakbox sometime. We don't use them out here in Calif. too much, but I have a very old scull boat that just oozes fowling history. That is a neat picture of the black, none out west; never seen one.

Hi Brian, here is a pic of my boat, we shoot a lot of blacks here in NH. at 1st light 9 out of 10 times the 1st duck you shoot is a black:crying:, than after that you start to look for "colors" (mallards), Pete Lester and i will give it a go this weekend, than i will be shooting my 10 ga, you get very close shots out of the sneakbox so that is why i shoot a 20 ga. scott

Scott, The boat looks great; can't really see the outline....A+ camo job. What is that vegetation around the boat? It resembles water grass we have in our rice fields. Neat looking spot to hunt on. One black duck limit is due to low numbers (?), sort of like our 2 bird limit on pintails out west. Funny thing is, the pintail have staged a monumental comeback and many of us believe the low counts are suspect.

Good luck this weekend chasing the ducks. We are going out for a possible three day storm.....shooting each day...well, that's the plan today.

We have to be careful to not go over our possession limits, so we might be eating duck three times a day. God I love duck season!!!

the grass is called salt grass around here, they used to hay it back before the trees were cut to make fields . black numbers were low years ago but lots of them now. they cross with the mallard so not many true blacks, cross ducks kind of look like blacks but have a double white bar on there wings( blacks have one or very little) and they call them mallards for you bag limit., good luck to you too. scott

Seems like you take two shots with the twenty for every duck or goose that only takes one shot with the 12 or the 10... explain yourself please. :corn:
