Hello, everybody! Well, the opener has come and gone, and I got skunked. The foliage is thick, of course, but not as bad as in the past. It has been so dry here, the forest was like a tinderbox and the leaves are falling prematurely. All the familiar puddles and mudholes are dried up. I logged about 9 hours of walking yesterday and about 8 hours today. It's exhausting when the temperature is hovering in the mid 70s! This morning was interesting. I was preparing to 'tend to myself' when I heard a rustling in the brush. Lo and behold, out of the thicket, about 15 yards away, stepped the biggest, blackest wolf I have ever seen! He stopped, turned left, and calmly trotted away. About an hour later, another (or the same) black wolf crossed the trail about 100 yards ahead of me. Either we have a few black wolves, or the first one gets around. Cheers!

Mark we had similiar temps in north central Michigan. We didn't see any Wolves which is fine by me. We usually see some resident Woodcock but not one birds was flushed. Pockets that have always held water in the past were bone dry. Not a Blueberry, wild Grape or thornapple was seen either:shock: I think it will a year of finding what the birds are eating and changeing your hunting habbits accordingly.
