I had a great trip to SC.No deer for me ,however.I was loaded with #3 buck shot in my 26" DHE 20 gauge. The dogs did not come my way.One doe killed on 2 drives. The quail shooting was better.I bloodied my CHE 28 gauge with 24" barrels on my second shot.I could not catch up to the bird on the first. It is 0418 and I am leaving at 0500 for a duck and goose hunt.I will report.

hope you smoke them ducks and geese....man what a hunt you are having... a deer taken with a dh parker 20 ga with no 3 buck would have to be up therewith the best....i hope you get to take that 20 out on deer again....and quail taken with the little 28 ga is icing on the hunt....love to here these type hunts....charlie

I might have missed it and am sorry if you must repeat it but how did your 28, 24"F/F do on Mr. Bob. If God came to me and said you may only hunt one species of bird for the rest of your life, it would, without any hesitation be Mr. Bob.
Merry Christmas wherever you are hunting today,
Daryl

The 28 did fine on the quail. It was the owner who had trouble putting it on them.I hunted ducks today with my grandson and while he did not kill one, he made good swings and the 28 gauge fit him well.We did kill some teal who were breaking the sound barrier. Life is good.

Is it safe to assume with your name and being from Avery Island LA that your family is of Tabasco fame ?

If so let me tell you I enjoy the majority of your families products !

Hello Edmund. You may remember my father Stan Porter and I from the Bayou Club. Sounds like you are having a wonderful hunt. I took my Parker D grade 10 ga choked
.039 and .049 to the Bayou club and in mid November and did well on those long passing shots, but had a hard time with the Teal and those chokes. I am impressed you can hit the quail with the 28 choked F/F - great shooting. Shoot well and stay safe.

I remember your father well.We both served on The Bayou Club Board.I am glad things go well for you.I am shooting a GHE 16 today, full and modified. As to the quail,I used the Spread Shot.I must say that the shot did not spread enough for some or maybe they were flying too low or maybe too slow.Could have been too high as well,Possibly too fast.

Well I hope the ducks cooperated and succumbed to the 16. Sounds like you have a wonderful collection of Parkers and you shoot them. I am just starting my collection but intend to have only guns I am willing to shoot. You may recall a print at the Bayou Club of my Dad in a blind. I had that print recreated on an A1 repro. My father passed away last year but he will be remembered on this gun for generations to come. You can see Gournet's work at http://www.gournetusa.com/Sept08/DSCF1074.JPG.

Agreed. Very impressive. The gallery on his website has beautiful examples of the engraver's art - and all hand work. Thanks for the post.

Covers many of my excuses. Here, the wind gusts are also problematic.

Cheers,

Gusts are a great problem as well. They always hit after I have pulled the trigger.
