The duck season started Saturday morning here in coastal Louisiana. My son and grandsons came down to the ranch and stayed for the weekend. I shot my 16 ga Parker DHE Reproduction on opening day with good results, the six of us all got limits including the 9 year old. We hunt in a marsh area of the ranch and use sunken fiberglass blinds in about a foot of water. I shot alone this morning with the 28 ga Parker DHE Reproduction. My grandsons just cannot wait till the ducks are close enough when I use a small gauge gun so I hunt solo when using a .410 or 28. I place a flapper at 20 yards and shoot only when the birds are over or inside of the flapper. It was an interesting bag for me this morning, a Mottled duck, a hen Mallard, a drake Mallard, a Green wing Teal, a Blue wing Teal and a Fulvous Whistling Duck. The boys were also successful today. We are blessed with a very high duck count and multiple species in the White Lake area. We border the White Lake Reserve where Whooping Cranes were just re-established in the fresh water marsh. Just thought I'd share the wonder of this area that I've been fortunate enough to hunt for the past 60 years. Bill Stevenson

Ditto! It's not a easy process from digital camera to parker fourm but with help from others it cam be done. With help I figured out how so there you go. Now how do I get back to my e-mail.

Thanks you for sharing that hunt. I have hunted down in Venice for the past many years and sadly that area is destroyed. I will do some research on your area. Do you know of any guides that work that area?

David, one of the best outfits to hunt with is Doug's Hunting Lodge, just West of Gueydan. I mostly hunt on my ranch but on occasion I've used Doug's and have been treated well. Doug Sonnier is a great host, his phone is 337-536-7902. He is on the Internet too. Cheers, Bill

I have tried without success to post photos. In the past, I've e-mailed my photos to a volunteer, who, being much smarter than me, posted them on this site. I don't have photos of last weekends hunt, I do have photos of other hunts on the ranch. A month ago I took an eleven foot one inch alligator, I did not use a Parker on that hunt. Any volunteers? Bill,
I have fond memories of hunting in South Louisiana, the mottled ducks in particular. Sounds like a good time was had by all.
