Saturday I drove through the night to get to the Lake north of Anchorage where Trigg spends his weekends and sacked out in the back of my little SUV for until morning. Trigg motored over and picked me up and after a breakfast at his cabin on the lake and an early waterski for his wife we headed for the preserve with his GSP Shine to wreak havoc on some chukars. We had the place to ourselves as most people are busy preparing for the opening of moose season Sept 1 and, at almost 70deg and sunny, it was the only truly "summery" day I've experienced yet this year. We had a good old time putting birds out and letting Shine hunt them up. I shot my newly acquired damascus CHE12, trigg an almost criminally lightweight Ferlib 20ga. Only one bird escaped and I'll be supping on some tender fresh chukar throughout this coming winter. It was a fun shoot and I do dearly love the new C-grade. What a beauty!
