Hope everyone survived the 'Great East Coast Earthquake' earlier this week. Did anyone have any good Parker Guns shake loose and fall out of the rafters during the quake? What about the Southern contingent - any CHE 28 gauges bust out of the ceiling rafters and clatter to the mud room floor? What about the coastal contingent - any 8 gauges coming through the cracks in the plaster walls out in the smoke house or root cellar? If so, make sure you wrap them up and put them under cover so Irene doesn't spoil the fun this weekend. I know they are out there somewhere....

Kevin wouldn't be so sarcastic about the EQ if he had talked to the OIC of his Tuesday afternoon sporting clays shoot. Our leader was in our sixty foot wooden tower, loading the traps, when the quake happened. Kevin appeared on the range, unperturbed, about thirty minutes later. Neither Kevin nor I experienced any vibration.

Not so; not so! I was out in my yard fooling with my boat, motor and decoys when the 'Great Quake' struck at 1:51PM!! You could hear the sound and watch the huge trees move against the sky background. The sensation was sort of like standing on the ice on a tidal pond down on the Bay when a large boat goes by out on the river and the ice ripples but doesn't break - freaky!
My dog came out of her kennel and looked around like she does just before a fox comes out of the woodline - 'whazzup?' I realized later during my sporting clays round why I was missing the easy targets and nailing the 'screamers' - sort of like "The Hunt for Red October"; I was experiencing a 'seismic anomoly." FWIW, I had my 'moment' in the tower one afternoon in late Sept. when I went all the way up to do my annual R&R on the trap: a 25-30 KT. wind came up and we swinged and swayed for about 20 minutes. After I came down on the ground, I felt just like I'd spent a day on the Bay trolling for rockfish in rough seas - spongy!!

I apologize for not being on here sooner, still picking up the pieces.

Breaking News:
President Obama has just confirmed that the DC earthquake
occurred on a rare and obscure fault-line,
apparently known as "Bush's Fault".
