whats a fair price?

I have a 1903 volcan grade 16 ga. 28 in. In fair condition. Bores are good. Barreled somewhat rusty but not pitted. About a third of Butt plate is missing . Has two cracks in the butt stock. I gave $140 plus tax at a auction. If any picture of a certain part will help in anyway let me know. It had a repair done years ago with a bolt and two buffalo nickels above the triggers. I not sure if I want to restore it. It will be a wallhanger or I may just try to sell it. I really don't have time or the right skills to give a restoration.

Thanks, I bought 6 guns at the sale. Im more into rifles. I also got a Russell 12 ga.double barrel in better shape.

A few more pictures, a serial number, and indication of what markings are on the rib would be helpful to establish a value. If the barrels are severely pitted, the gun will have no value beyond the value of the forend for parts. With good barrels, the gun could have serious value above what you paid.

Gun appears as originally built with the exception of an additional 10 cents worth of "stock pin", a broken butt plate and cracked butt stock. A salvageable gun at a good purchase price. Need not be a "wall hanger". Should be out taking upland birds.

Some more in focus close up pics would be appreciated by all. If bores are good and barrels only have surface rust with no pitting, you could have a fun shooter. If you just want to re-sell, you might get more than you paid. :)

I cant see the date on the nickel but some of them are probably worth more than 140. of course the bolt hole may detract from the value.

Yep. Before becoming a nickel washer and depending on date, value ranges from .35 to 1200.00. Great big hole through it - maybe 5 cents or no longer considered legal tender.

Here is couple of more pictures. I cleaned on the barrels some and wow! I used some mothers mag wheel polish and a cotton cloth. About a half hour on 6 in. Section it really done a remarkable job
