I spent opening day in El Centro Ca in a field next to a feed lot about a half mile from the US/Mexico border. Fun shooting and socializing as always and picked up my limit of doves.
I drove over to Parker Az on Friday and shot the CRIT reservation lands through Sunday. I managed to find birds in a field right next to town and in the desert. Nothing like standing behind a Palo Verde tree and picking off doves.
I used several different guns but probably had the most fun with a 1950 vintage Ithaca Featherweight M37 16ga. Felt like a kid again shucking that gun. It was surprisingly easy to take doubles when I pointed it in the right direction. :)
Now I have 60 dove breasts in the freezer and plans to go shoot the valley again Tuesday afternoon. My wife is already starting to look at me sideways and the season is all of two weeks old. ;)
