Squirrel season begins in many parts of the country soon. I don't hunt squirrels but sure would like to see some hunting photos this year featuring some Parkers and squirrels! In the mean time, here's a photo of our Griff, "Fish" trying to catch a squirrel on TV that was running loose at Yankee Stadium Friday night during a game with the Red Sox. It created quite the stir both here at home and at Yankee Stadium.
FYI- Sox win 1-0 in a classic.

Now that's a great idea! The season is next week here. Perhaps a photo with my 16g Trojan would make it, we'll see.

Great shot, Chris. My Wirehair, Eva, climbed up about ten feet into a cedar tree to catch a squirrel. When they came to ground, the squirrel was dead. The squirrel obviously misjudged the dog's climbing ability.

But...but...the quail flew into the tree. I promise ;)

Squirrel hunting is dear to my heart. It was how I learned to hunt as a boy, with a .410. I started selling squirrels for a quarter apiece. My shells cost 12 cents each, so if I made a one shot kill I made 13 cents. It was crucial to not need a second shot, to stay in the black.
When I got hold of a .22 I thought I'd get rich, relatively speaking, for a 11 year old.
Never went back to a shotgun for squirrels.

I sure miss ol’ Charlie Cleveland’s stories of his “squirl” hunting escapades.

I love hunting them with one of my vintage .22's.

Missouri has an abundance of squirrels and a season that starts around Memorial Day and lasts through mid-February.
Still searching for the best Brunswick Stew (that's the original from Brunswick County, Virginia version) recipe. (I will not eat butterbeans!!)
I grew up hunting squirrels with my Sears .410 while my Pop head-shot them with his J. C. Higgins auto .22. He liked short hollow points for squirrels. They still work if you can find them.

Chris, does one pup watch upland bird hunting shows and the other, squirrels? It’s an interesting training exercise. :rotf:

TV is a scourge, but my Eva got pleasure from watching "Wheel of Fortune".

Wish I could have posted the video of it. While "Fish" was barking tree, I mean barking television, "Arcas" was running back and forth from the front windows to the front door trying to get outside to find the little rat...
