Always interesting to see what tickled the fancy of probably the greatest outdoor legend of our time. RIP Jack.

I read every word O'Conner wrote in the late 50's/mid 60's that I could find. I have a book he wrote on shotguns. However, he never seemed to ever cross my mind when the subect was shotguns. I do remember vividly, however, the few articles he did write on the subject almost invariably concerned his experience with this maker and the guns he purchased from him and others in the region. The articles always showed a much higher level enthusiasm than most of his writing. He was a real believer in the high grade Spanish shotguns.

If memory serves I think he had a couple Model 21’s . But I don’t recollect him ever mentioning a Parker or any of the hardware store guns .

Of course, you meant to say "a Parker or any OTHER of the hardware store guns.

Jack had more than a couple of 21's. In one story he and Eleanor were shooting ducks at relatively long range with a 20 bore LCS with 30" tubes. He also wrote about shooting a Winchester 97 and Model 42 pump guns. That's all I recall at the moment.

The not so recent book about Jack's guns is very interesting reading. His rifles are much more interesting than his shotguns.
