VH 20 and an old girl

I took my 12 year old French Brittany and my 93 year old VH 20 ga for an outing. I got a some quail for dinner. I like to get the old girl out a few times a season. She is slowing down with age, but still does everything perfectly.

Joe, that's a happy looking pup you have there. There's a kind of beautiful chemistry between an experienced (I won't say old) dog and her handler that is very special. It's a pleasure to see.

Where were you on this hunt?

We were at an upland bird club in North Carolina. I also have a young French Brittany that is still learning her craft. Those two dogs keep me pleasantly busy. To me, side by sides and pointing dogs are a great combination. I'll post a photo of the young girl at some point soon.

Here is a photo of the youngster. She is coming along well. She still needs polish and refinement. That will come with maturity and repetition.
