The walking stick is for balancing in the mud on the retrieve.

Now why don’t you show us really how long those barrels are:)

Jeff, it looks like you have jump shooting down to a science. No lugging decoys or messing with blinds…and great exercise, too.

What are the specs on your Parker and the loads you were using. It looks like some Tungsten Matrix hulls in the picture.

That is my go to duck gun. I would have a tough time guessing how many ducks that gun has taken over the years. It is a 1 1/2 frame 12 with 30 " barrels. It is the standard Mod and full chokes. I was using #5 bismuth and # 2 tungsten matrix.
It is a lot of exercise walking miles in chest waders since I am also the dog!

I used to love jump shooting ducks along the creek that ran behind my house in my youth. I would hunt pheasants in the fields along the creek and every 50 yards or so sneak out to the edge of the creek and jump the ducks. I did very well with this method.

That worked well for me out here in N. Calif. where one could drive 5 miles north of
U.C. Davis and find the roads adjacent to the return ditches. In a north wind all you'd do is walk the south side and the resting ducks would bust up and turn right overhead. In a couple hours of walking you could get 3-4 mallards and a few pheasants walking the fence rows. Now, the farmers close the roads and you'll get in hot water if you trespass.

Great day Jeff. There was nothing better than walking the salt marshes on Long Islands (NY) south shore, stretched for almost 100 miles of mostly open land with hundreds of tidal ponds and mosquito ditches. The only thing I miss since I left.

There are different ways of jump shooting. The one that I employ is from a kayak. Obviously, Jeff does it by walking. Super job, too! Well done.
