Very interesting and unusual Damascus-Twist alternating barrel construction found on an early Royal Bavarian percussion SxS.
“Baader & Sohn”, founded by Frans Xaver Baader (1801-1864).

I have never seen one like that. It is unusual and I like it. What a beautiful gun. I recently bid on a 16 gauge Ithaca 1 1/2 grade that had one tube twist and the other tube damascus. I should have bid higher on that one, it was something different that I wish was in my safe...

Looks like the barrels were left in the etching solution a bit longer than normal.

From looking at it closer it almost looks like it was added on top of the damascus.

I don't see that Jay. The edge of the band perfectly intersects the Damascus crolle dead center in the middle with each crolle. If it were simply wound over the Damascus I don't think we'd see such perfection.

I was just guessing Dean, I can't really tell. That is one that would be neat to see in person...
