Found two nice scaled quail coveys in Colorado yesterday. My pup June pointed a half dozen times and I bagged a few. I carried my 16 hammer guns all day yesterday…lots of fun!

Is June a setter or a brittany?

special gun and beauty of a setter. Off topic, I'm going to try a dog vest, probably a Sylmar on my setters, they are getting torn apart by the briars while hunting in Ohio--ever use one?

Harold,
I just bought a mud river vest, it uses velcro, very easy to put on and it has not come loose yet. I have used it a dozen times. My other vest that uses the small belt loop type belt buckle chafes my brittanies back. So far the velcro does not chafe.

Harold I never have used one but I do think it's a good idea...I can't see any downside to one.

Thanks Bruce. She has Penstar on the bottom and smithsetters on the top. I love Penstar and Tomoka. I had a full granddaughter of Tomoka when I was in vet school...helluva of a nice dog. I've had three Penstar prodigy and they make awesome quail dogs

Shawn: I really think that the head looks exactly like the Smith line. They are as chiseled to me as a true line Elhew pointer. Great looking dog.... I had a grandson of Tekoa and man what a stylish hunting fool.

Shawn,
Do you give any supplements to your dogs after or before the hunt?

Funny you asked that Daryl. I just started using Glycocharge 30 mins post exercise and am loving it. I feed my dogs a normal meal in the am and a little at lunch too. I had a setter owner call me from North Carolina about his dog having exercise induced hypoglycemia and we started doing exactly that and he reported today to me that his dog dig great this past week in KS on phez and quail without an episode. I've always fed before exercise.

Bruce...that's awesome. I love those Tomoka dogs. I stand corrected...I aged myself! I had a full granddaughter to Tomoka not daughter. Tomoka if I recall had his best days in the late 1970's

I've been using Glycocharge for about 6 years now and won't leave home or hunt my dogs without it. Amazing results.
I also don't feed before a hunt as I believe that the food you feed them hours before a hunt does no good supplying energy. It's Glycocharge within an hour of the cessation of the hunt then feeding shortly after.

Nice looking setter.
