I just wrapped up three days chasing grouse and woodcock in Michigan. It was my setter’s (and my) first effort at wild birds. An exploratory expedition. Expectations were low. (Should have hired a guide.) But then we started finding birds. Snoop gave me some beautiful points, and I occasionally connected. It was a wonderful experience, and I look forward to doing it again soon.
The photographs are of the first bird to hit the ground.

Somewhere near Grayling?
Yes. I stayed at the North Branch Outing Club and hunted the surrounding area. I plan to make NBOC an annual thing. Heck, I’d go again this year if they weren’t closing for the season after this week. The history and charm of the place—plus Judy’s hospitality—enhanced the experience.

I stayed at the North Branch Outing Club two weekends this year. The first weekend I displayed some of my collection for their Parker Nite.

Jeff:
Judy told me I missed some Parker folks by a week or two. I will try not to let that happen next year.

congratulations victor, I live about 30 miles from Grayling, I don't hunt that way to much, I have quite a few places in Kalkaska I hunt so not much need to go further. Your dog is just stunning by the way.
