For those looking at the SxS Events calendar I want to pass along that Ernie and I talked yesterday and he said there's a lot of pent up vendor interest in his 2021 Northeast SxS at Hidden Hollow here in PA. He mentioned RST, Steve Barnett FG (August), Fire Tower Doubles/Brian, Gary Herman, Mark Beasland, Robin Hollow and others familiar and some new this year. Woo hoo!

I can’t wait!! Ernie’s has turned into my favorite shooting event of the year, right behind upland hunting of course.

Let's not forget the ever exciting and challenging Bo-Whoop long range competition and the WC Letterman single barrel trap event to be held at the Northeast SxS the first weekend in June.

This year there will be a modified Bo-Whoop event for those of you who would like to shoot your smallbores at these challenging, but breakable, targets.

Everyone has to pass the BW/WCL field on their way in to the tents and then again when they head out to the course. Please stop by, introduce yourself and try your hand at this fun event.

The Lefever Arms Collectors Association will be holding their annual "Uncle Dan Cup" shoot-off at the Northeast Side by Side. The annual Fox-Lefever Challenge will also be held there.

Mills, you will love it--be sure and stop over at the Parker homeless campsite for some smoked grouse, adult libation, and lively talk.

Daryl, tell me more about the Letterman single barrel event.

Glad you asked John.

It's a 10 target presentation using the two traps set up for the Bo-Whoop. Pretty straight forward but challenging enough that you really need to be on your game to score a 10/10.

But..... After following your career on the trap circuit you could very well be the W.C Letterman cup champion for 2021. Hope to see you there.

BTW- W.C. Letterman shot a Fox SBT of course. It would behoove you to shoot a Fox SBT and use your Parker as a backup.

The Fox Collectors have offered the W C Letterman vintage SBT event at Hausmann's since 2013, except of course for 2020 when the Northeast SxS was cancelled due to the CV. I'm away from the records but if memory serves Parker SBT's have had very limited success over those 7 years.

EZ for armchair shooters and lawn chair kibitzers to tout their favorite maker; let's see who shows up with what this year and which one rules. :nono:

Seems to me that Parker, LCS and Ithaca guns have been putting up the winning scores for the SBT cash purse with the occasional second or third place $$ going to a Fox shooter.

Please reference Frank's (Cold Spring) history of the winning guns for this event. :bigbye:

Fox is the only gun allowed to win the “trophy” so in that way Fox wins the event. However, in my recollection having run the BW and WCL the cash purse has gone to other makers more so than to an AHF gun. BTW, I’m buying John in the Calcutta!! I like side bets and can talk trash better than most. 😂😂

For those unfamilar or hazy on the W C Letterman vintage SBT event, this has not been trap shooting in the conventional sense and with oscillating/wobble outgoers. At least in the past, a mix of the three traps used for the Bo-Whoop Long Range SxS event are used and they may be quartering, screaming crossers, teal, droppers, incomers, etc. The WCL has also been shot from a different butt than the B-W and the clays are of course "on call".

I doubt I'll have a chance to win that argument so the next question is... could a 20 ga. Model 37 be used in the Bo-Whoop small bore event, or is that just for double guns. I've only owned this gun for less than a year and have not had a chance to test it on long range targets. Then, again, there is always Mad Jack.

Austin,
You are welcome to shoot that lovely 20 M37 on the BW but to qualify for the trophy you must shoot an AH Fox SxS. If you really want to shoot a 20, and you don't have one with long barrels and choke, you are welcome to use one of my 20's.
Good luck with the Mad Jack.:banghead:
Then main goal here is to have fun.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Thanks Daryl,
I patterned the 37 a few months ago, and she shoots real tight so I thought I might hit a few of the longer presentations. If I'm on my game at Ernie's I might take you up on the use of one of your Foxes. My only Fox is a 16 gauge with IC/IC chokes which I will use on the Hunters Clays course.
Looking forward to meeting you also.

Austin

Austin,

I have done well on the main Bo-Whoop with a 20 and a 28. Didn't take top prize but had a blast keeping up with the 12 and 10 gauge guys. It can be done.

I think you will like shooting my 32" 20ga. Sterlingworth with F/F chokes and since I am not able to compete I would love to see someone shoot a good score with it just for grins.

Looking forward to meeting you too.

Daryl

Auy-Yup!! GOT to watch those 3rd party vendors! Got flummoxed by 3 different ones last month on a trip to PA to pick up guns the week before the Southern. Finally called the hotel direct and talked to a live human being; reserved a great room with a cancellable 24-hr. clause for $78. The range for the "only 2 rooms left at this price" clowns went from $98 to $121. Best part was the hotel was 17 minutes from my destination. I'll go there again!

However, there is a dining area with complimentary breakfast foods, fruits, coffee, tea and juices.

Thanks Dean. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease last year so eating can be a bit of a challenge. Having a small fridge can be pretty handy to have.

Tom, my wife was diagnosed with Celiac in 1995, shortly after we married. She is really good at picking thru menus and determining what is safe to eat, and how to cook gluten free. I hope you are feeling better now that you know what the problem is--it made a big difference in her.
For those who dont know, Celiac Sprue is an autoimmune disease in which the body cannot handle the protein gluten, found in wheat, barley. Imagine, no bread, no beer, pizza, fried chicken, etc, unless they are prepared with gluten free ingreediants. Tip: try Anheuser-Busch Red Bridge beer.
Sorry, I wont get to see you at Hausmann's, wife's mother is predicted to pass today.

Red Bridge isn't my favorite GF beer, but its certainly the most available. For those who think beer is expensive as a rule, check out the price on GF beer. Hard Cider has become my go to beverage as its naturally GF.
