We are enjoying some fine wild bird huntin in NW Kansas! Brisk mornings, dusty afternoons and NO MUD! The roosters are in pockets and when you find em the shooting is good. We also get into one or two groups of quail at most of the birdy spots we hunt. Not big groups say 6 - 15 birds is the average. They were larger groups before the shooting started for sure! I have asked the guys not to shoot any of the birds in the small 6 bird groups as they need to numbers to survive the winter that is to come. Here are a few pics of the hunting and bird camp. We have a group of 5 enjoying our time here. A much needed break after all the stuff that has transpired in 2020!!! Life is good on the prairie. SXS Ohio

Kenny - sorry I missed you on my last two trips to your neck of the woods, but I'm delighted that on both trips you were bird hunting! Glad to know things are good in Kansas! Take care, and I look forward to catching up soon, maybe around Christmas.

Prepping for our last morning hunt, then after lunch pack for the trip back to Ohio. The week just goes to fast!!!! Then the count down starts all over till next year. We all are in need of puppies, Kevin and Steve and I only have one dog each. Two of the three will hunt today on sore feet. My heavy Gordon setter has the least wear and tear from the brush and stickers and is in good shape. She got into a big stand of cockle berries yesterday....that sucked! She hunted everyday and is a trooper and will have her tenth birthday Feb-5th. I have not decided on the breed of pup that I want as yet but it will be a female that is good at finding down birds. German shorthair is on the short list. We really need a roe-bo tank with a GPS and double good sniffer! I have lost two quail and one rooster.....the stuff is so thick out here if I fell down I might not be found either! SXS Ohio
