Who admits to planning on shooting something other than a Parker tomorrow?

Not here, but if I did, it would be another American double.

Opening day of dove season in Georgia is always the first Saturday in September at 12 noon. Of course the birds don't show up until around 4. So we've got a few more days of anticipation, but I will be shooting a Parker.

That is the civilized way to do it.
I miss the dove shoots of my native Commonwealth: a leisurely shoot lunch beforehand, the caravan to the fields, and the hospitality afterwards.
That's not the way they do it out west.

Our usual host has a conflict next weekend, so is doing it the following weekend. I am going to let Harry pick which Parker he wants to shoot and then will take one myself of the same gauge

As I posted yesterday, I'll start the season off Saturday with a pair of VH 20s. Sunday I'll up my game with a pair of Crescent 410s.

Here in Oklahoma, season starts today (sept 1), will be going out after work with my nephew and my VH 16 and my restored Lefever DS 16. Lots of doves on the wires, hope it is a good evening!

It's Papa's 20 Trojan and Uncle Bill's 20 VH as back up. These two will probably go with me the whole season unless I step up to Uncle Bill's VH 16.

Ok, I'll admit it. A few months ago I bought a 1948 20 ga model 12 skeet gun that was never fired. I've been shooting it some at clays but today I intend to bloody it. After today it is back to Parker.

No dove season here but squirrel opens 9/1 with 16ga trojan f/xf. Grouse opener 10/1 will see Fox AE 16ga and Lefever H 16ga as usual.

I will be shooting doves and sporting clays for the next 5 days. I started out as a Parker guy and still love shooting them. It started at around age 12 with my Dad's Trojan and has gotten worse. But.... in these next few days a couple of Foxes and a Lefever or two will follow me around the field. Might even find room for a M12 20ga.

I’ve got a well used and slightly abused Westley Richards boxlock 12 I’ve not used in a number of years and a WW Greener DH-40 12 that I’ve had since I was 15 and not fired in a good long while . But if I were to use a non Parker noise maker it would most likely be a circa 1965 Superposed 20 gauge skeet gun or a circa 1970 Superposed 28 gauge skeet gun .

I have a 28 gauge Superposed but it’s not for sale . The gentleman I got my VHE 20 from wants a Superposed 28 that’s round knob long tang preferably IC/M and I’ve been trying to find him one in his price range . But other than a smattering of skeet Guns and a few high grade guns there’s nothing to be found .

We’ve got a used recent manufacture Remington 1100 Sporting 28 gauge that feels really good in the hands . I’d add it to my accumulation but I’m a bit anal about loosing hulls and HATE picking them up off the ground .

The only way I would shoot an semi-auto or a pump would be when the hulls are on their last legs and ready to be pitched. Then I don't worry about picking them up. I also HATE picking them up off the ground unless some generous person who does'nt reload chucks a bunch of once fired hulls on the ground.

Whether it's ejector guns or of one of my vintage A-5s I long ago treated myself to the magnetic wand for shell p/u. We've got fire ants, cactus, and rattle snakes! Splurge gents, $35 WELL spent. Mine lives in the toolbox in my truck, always with me.

In the last 12-18 months we had a very nice semi recent manufacture Ithaca 28 gauge pump in excellent shape . Think it sold on GB for less than $800 I kinda wish I’d purchased it .

For shell pickup, when I shot cowboy action, a shelf can gripper/picker worked fine and its also great for picking up anything. Its tough getting old. Tractor Supply has them in several length for about $12-$15. Best thing I ever bought
